10-Foot Upcycled Christmas Tree | Circular Design in Action
By bringing together diverse waste materials through innovative design and collaborative making, the initiative demonstrates how sustainability can translate into an accessible public experience. The initiative was developed as a community-facing sustainability project in collaboration with five partner organisations, namely Greenwaves Environmental Solutions, Twirl Store, La Sustaina, Offbeat CCU and Y-East, using design as a platform for environmental awareness, behavioural change, and circular innovation.

A 10-foot upcycled Christmas tree created entirely from discarded materials, transforming waste into a visually striking public installation. The project demonstrates how creative product design, circular thinking and upcycling can turn materials traditionally viewed as waste into something meaningful, engaging, and valuable. More than a festive installation, the project is a practical circular economy intervention that extends material life, encourages resource-conscious design, and challenges conventional ideas of waste and consumption.
